It is amazing to me how many words begin with the letter C and yet, I’ve found another Contagious Concept –ha! It’s Contagious Commitment.

Are you committed to anything? Perhaps a relationship, a plan, an exercise regimen, an employer, or maybe even just to yourself in the form of passion around your goals or discipline required to achieve them? Commitment is a choice and it’s also contagious. What are you committed to? And are you really committed or just interested?

Contagious Commitment to your plan, for example, requires focus, effort, determination and a sense of resilience. It also requires being really clear about what you want. What do you really want and are you committed to achieving it or making it happen?

Let’s face it, road blocks occur. Things happen, or like a bumper sticker that I saw recently said: compost happens, and yet it is in the face of such obstacles that your Contagious Commitment is tested. You can tell how committed you are by how much or how little it takes to knock you off track, even if you suffer from something shiny syndrome.

This week, take a look at your commitments. Filter those that are merely interests and determine those that speak to the core of what you really want and recommit to those. It’s the ones that speak to your core that will compel you to keep going and achieve or obtain those things you want the most. And once others see your level of commitment, most often they’ll join you in supporting your efforts. Even commitment is indeed Contagious!
