Monica Wofford, CSP, teaches leaders to understand and improve their own leadership in using practice, skills, and desire as their three areas of focus.

Some things grow that might not need to, but leaders are always growing!

One of the most poignant phrases I’ve ever heard is “If you’re not growing, you’re dying”. Of course, part of me is also really clear and has to giggle at the fact that my hips are alive and well and in NO risk of dying from starvation if this phrase is true! But the concept also applies very clearly to leadership.

So often we assume upon promotion that we’ve grown into a certain level. Well, the learning doesn’t stop there. Leadership is a life-long effort, more of a lifestyle than a last minute adventure.  It’s more of a way of life and a way of being, acting, behaving, and relating with those you lead, than a face or a title you only put on at certain times.

What are you doing to fulfill the authentic role of full time leader? It doesn’t mean you don’t leave your title at the office or give the billboard of a badge a break. It merely means that you get comfortable being yourself and leading yourself before you go about leading others.

What are you doing to learn to lead even better than you might be now? Is your leadership skill set in danger of dying or is it growing wild and free in a constant state of information to nourish its healthy appetite?

Stay Contagious,

Monica.
