Tough times can quickly cripple the average person, but a leader tends to push through. Do you? Do your efforts keep the team intact? Do they feel like you have their back? We can’t escape all the tough times and workplace difficulties, but we can respond in ways that are far more effective, though how that happens might surprise you.
It’s not unlike how animals respond to threatening changes in their environment. They move. Well duh! But here’s the surprising part…and I didn’t believe this until I saw it with my own eyes when in Wyoming this summer. When a storm comes, buffalo run toward the storm. They face their challenge, run INTO it and thus get through it faster. Cows on the other hand, who I would have thought behave in similar ways, run away from the storm and end up staying in it and being rained on longer.
Are you leading through tough times in a way that first, faces and accepts the challenge? Do you then deal with it head on with determination? And finally, do you take action at a rapid pace? Leaders don’t shy away from adversity. (and apparently neither do the Buffalo of Wyoming. It was amazing and so are you and your leadership abilities. )Does the store chase you or do you face it?
I’m Monica Wofford and that’s your Monday Moment. Have a great week, an even better Monday, and of course, stay contagious!
