All leaders face change and how they handle it says a lot about how well they lead. But if you’re still asking Who Moved My Cheese, stop looking for the cheese and start giving employees what they really need. In fact, there’s a real lesson in the history of cheese.
Cheese came into being at the same time as civilization. When groups of people began to settle down and domesticate animals the discovery was made. Created from the complaint over not spilled, but spoiled milk, which when left to sit in room temperature becomes curds and whey. The curds became cheese and the whey was used to feed the animals. Both allowed man to travel further with valuable nutrients in hand.
So, if your “cheese” has moved, this means the organization settled and is now innovating and creating something new. Even if you feel your cheese is speeding across the ice like a hockey puck on crack, you can stop looking for it and simply hang on for the ride optimistically in search of the next exciting adventure.
