On the heels of a recent Monday Moment entitled, “Leaders: Would You Really Put That on Social Media?” maybe it’s time to talk about the real issue. When did we begin to equate different with difficult? In one of the most rewarding and life-changing presentations of my professional speaking career, allow me to present a sneak peek into the TED talk I shared on this topic.

Only now available through the TEDxOcala You Tube channel and soon to be on TED.com, this TED talk addresses the real fear behind protective behaviors. It is these very behaviors that most of us see and label as difficult. As you watch this 18 minute video, ask yourself to whom, and when, have I been difficult? Then consider asking if there are others you love and lead who seem difficult, but in fact are merely those with a belief or behavior perhaps vastly different from the choice you would make in the same situation?

And before you hit that POST button on social media next, harken back to this TED talk entitled “When Did We All Become Difficult People” to determine what’s behind yours or their negative information. What is the real issue? Unless of course, all the posts you see are positive rainbows, roses, and unicorns. I wish you that kind of luck! And of course, invite you to post this TED talk when you’re feed needs a positive boost.
