Given the size and scope of the concept of leadership communication, for each of these upcoming Monday Moment segments, we’re going to be laser focused. Last week we opened the topic with what IS communication from leaders and what were a few key things to think about in this arena.

Often what we say, how we say it, and when is not as black and white as these thought bubbles. As a leader that matters and this video will share two important considerations. Click the pic to watch.

To build on that with reference to YOUR leadership communication, also think for a moment as to whether or not yours is effective.

Just yes, or no.
Yay or Nay.
Maybe with some, but not with others.
Up, but not down?

Where are your shining examples of brilliance and where are those moments when your message falls flat or lacks luster?

Some tips for “shining it up” if you will…

  • Where it’s ineffective – narrow your message, lessen the number of words, and pause for the recipient.
  • Where it’s amazing – celebrate the notion that you’re around people with a similar style of communication.

Often it is less about one version being good or bad. Even more often it is no where near that black and white. The key is this: are you being effective for the recipient of your message? If not, time for some examination and maybe some laser focused, usually quite minor, adjustments.
