Between managing, leading, motivating, empowering, and valuing employees, where do leaders find the time to do it all AND do their own job?

it’s one thing to have all these fabulous creative ideas on what to do for those who report to you and… it’s quite another to find the time to order the flowers, send the note, or say that thank you thought. Heck, even reminding yourself to share that high-five with a free hand while you’re juggling the seventeen plates of your normal day to day leadership existence, can take some time and effort.

Of course, part of this is delegation (and there are a few Monday Moments that may help there), but that is assuming you have someone to whom you CAN delegate. Another part of it entirely is the sheer overwhelming number of responsibilities leaders are often given… and take on without conscious or immediate decisions on whether or not they have time for the thing they just willingly said yes to and accepted. (Quick tip: Try saying “I will 100% give that diligent thought. How about I give you a firm answer in… an hour, or tomorrow, or later today?” Pick your time frame and then give yourself a moment to decide if you really want to accept the “opportunity” presented.

But if with that tip, how do you find the time to do it all?
How do you find the time to still have a life and spend time with those you want in it?

Well, you keep an eye and focus on what is THE most important.

A couple of resources to help here include Eat that Frog by Brian Tracy and The Essentialist by Greg McKeown. Written years apart and before both of them is the vintage and famous What Matters Most by Stephen Covey. Pioneers in the topic of doing what matters, in some cases first and only, and the foundation for so many other resources out there.

Now if you can just find the time to read a few words, paragraphs or pages, in addition to this blog post.
