Good morning and Happy Monday!
I’m Monica Wofford and this is your Monday Moment.

While we’re on this topic of time, I thought I’d add in the result of what happens when we’re overwhelmed, stressed, or disinterested. Ever felt that? When it happens, we tend to put stuff off for later. As in waaaaay later. Call it “back burnering”, excuse making, explained delays or some other fun or fanciful terminology; the reality is we create delays. We procrastinate. And some of the best leaders are GREAT at it. But the reasons for it are different than you might think.

WATCH this Monday Moment video on why leaders procrastinate. The reasons may not be what you think. Hmmm…why do you do it?

The top FIVE reasons leaders procrastinate should actually be no secret and they are as follows:

  • We don’t know how
  • We don’t like it
  • We don’t want to do it
  • We don’t believe we can
  • We don’t think anyone will notice

Given the difficulty of various parts of leadership, and the challenges that can come with leading even fabulous people, it’s no wonder the first three are the most popular reasons.  And while a quick google search will give you tons of other reasons, it may be good to also consider personality in this context. Did you know a common leadership personality, referred to in many circles as a natural born leader, actually procrastinates a LOT? Ooohhh, ahhhh, maybe we talk about personalities next.

I’m Monica Wofford and that’s your Monday Moment.
