Well hello there and Happy Monday! I’m Monica Wofford and this is your Monday Moment.

As Father Time arrived at the time of this recording earlier this year, it might be time to talk about… well, time. Who’s got time to avoid the conflicts, develop the people, manage the business, and all the things for which we as leaders are responsible??

The real question is what leader doesn’t have the time?

Yep, we ALL have the same amount of time, but here’s a truth that might make you revisit your list.

We ALL make time for what is most important … to us. And usually you can tell what really matters to someone by looking at their calendar and their wallet.

Imagine a packed day with your long list of “to-dos” and yet, you’ve got a big award banquet and need a hair cut or someone to refresh your hair do. If looking good or making a good impression or looking glamorous, or not looking like you grew a COVID beard is important to you, guess what you’ll do? You’ll find the time and spend the time and money, to do what is most important to you.

So here’s the question… what in leadership is most important to you? Is it developing those you lead? Keeping your own self out of trouble and getting the promotion you crave? Getting rid of the person who makes you crazy? Hitting your sales target?

Whatever IT is that draws your greatest interest, is what you’ll be drawn to in every meeting, conversation, and action. Take a look at your list and the time that you have to accomplish it. And make sure you’re leading to the top, those things that are truly most important. Be honest with yourself and if need be, maybe reevaluate what you say really matters.

I’m Monica Wofford and let’s keep talking… leadership.
