Well hello there and Happy Monday! I’m Monica Wofford and this is your Monday Moment.
One of the most misunderstood leadership strengths is vulnerability.
Now vulnerability in leadership doesn’t mean oversharing or unloading your stress onto your team. Or telling them all about your personal life and struggles or triumphs.
It does mean having the confidence to be honest, with discretion.
Strong leaders understand that pretending to have every answer doesn’t build confidence and often erodes trust.
Vulnerability might include:
- Saying “I’m not sure yet, let’s figure it out together.”
- Asking for feedback from your team
- Acknowledging when something didn’t go as planned
- Being open to learning from others
Yet, ironically, when leaders stop trying to appear invincible, they often become far more credible and that surprises many a new leader.
Because people trust leaders who are confident enough to be human.
Where could a little more openness strengthen your leadership?
And where might inviting input make your team even stronger?
I’m Monica Wofford and let’s keep talking… leadership.
